Lamsahan is a bivouak on the Gajo-weg at kilometre 73, shortly before one reaches the first full view of the great mountain. The government has put up a few sheds there as a temporary bivouak for patrols, which go out to collect arrears of tax, or to ensure that a little cleaning is done in the kampongs, or to track the few evildoers who hide in the forests of the highland and the mountain-slopes, helped by a well-disposed population of kampongs here and there, who admire and fear these independent freebooters.
