Lampaleuh was the site of a Dutch blokhuis in the XXII Moekims of Groot-Atjeh near the post of Lam Soet, whose completion made the neighbourhood quiet and safe.

Hooijer recorded that at Lam Soet the mitrailleur mounted in the hut behind the commandant’s summer-house zelden of nooit behoefde gebruikt te worden, want na het voltooien van het blokhuis te Lampaleuh was het rustig en veilig in de buurt — seldom or never had to be used, for after the completion of the blokhuis at Lampaleuh it was quiet and safe in the neighbourhood. Most of the rifle-shots fired there were aimed at iguanas in the Atjeh-rivier.
