Klapa tiga — “the three coconut trees” — was the fortified point in the moekims Peukan Baroe-Peukan Sòt near Sigli from which Habib Oesén’s shooters directed daily fire against the Dutch administrative establishment, the benteng, and three companies of soldiers. The name referred to the three coconut trees that still stood upright in the “not always bullet-free air.” After two more coconut trees were shot down by gunfire, the Dutch military renamed the point pap satoe (“one coconut”).
