Village Merdoehati was an Acehnese village located to the north of the rice field (rice field) plain surrounding Atjeh’s Groote Missigit.

Role in the Expeditions

The village and its adjacent northern cemetery served as a crucial bivouac location and defensive flank for the Dutch forces during the First Conquest of the Great Missigit on 10 April 1873. The 6e Bataljon Infanterie held defensive positions here to cover the Dutch left wing from Acehnese counter-attacks.
