Generaal-Köhler-boom was a towering, nearly leafless banyan (banyan) tree situated at the southern end of a ruined eastern outer wall of Atjeh’s Groote Missigit.
Historical Event
The tree gained historical infamy because it marked the exact location where Major General J.H.R. Köhler was standing—approximately four paces to its west—when he was fatally shot by an Acehnese marksman during the Second Conquest of the Great Missigit on 14 April 1873.
