Ceylon appears in both historical and fictional contexts. The Hikayat Diwi Sangsareh features the celestial princess Hadi’oy Jami of the land of Train, and ‘the hero succeeds in meeting the original… his celestial princess… comes down to him in Silan (Ceylon).’ In the Hikayat Gumba Meuih, ‘Genggong Intan, who marries prince Kaharolah of Silan (Ceylon).’ The ‘utoih (tradesman) of Silan’ appears in the Kisah Hizweuen (animal fables).
