On 1 January 1 January 1872 the newly appointed Governor-General of Netherlands India, Mr. J. Loudon, took over the administration from the hands of his predecessor Mr. P. Mijer. Loudon’s governorship is principally of great significance through the outbreak of the Atjeh-oorlog.
