Officier van Gezondheid Oosterhoff was the Dutch military surgeon who rushed from the adjacent field ambulance to General Köhler’s side the moment the general was shot on 14 April 1873 at the Missigit, and carried him into one of the field hospitals, where Köhler died in his arms within minutes.
