Mennert (spelled Mennert in the source) was a Lieutenant ter zee le klasse who suffered a severe wound during the 30 March 1893 engagement on the Tamiang river. He was subsequently replaced as commander of the landing division by Broers (naval officer).
Role
Mennert’s injury illustrates the intense combat experienced by Dutch naval officers during the Aceh War river campaigns.
