Luitenant Weyerman was a Dutch lieutenant of the Netherlands East Indies Army killed in October 1893 during the attack of the 3rd battalion under Overste Sievers on the fortified mosque of Masdjid Siem in the XXVI Moekims of Groot-Atjeh.
Death at Masdjid Siem
Hooijer recorded that the defenders of Masdjid Siem drew strength from the sanctity the place possessed in their eyes, having so often served them as a meeting-point for religious and worldly festivals, and that Dutch bullets had to fly like howling hailstorms across the broad sawah (wet rice-field) plain behind the mosque and through the foliage of the heavy fruit-trees surrounding it before they gave up their sanctuary. Luitenant Weyerman en 3 minderen waren op die vlakte gesneuveld — Lieutenant Weyerman and three men of lower rank had fallen on that plain — and two officers and fifty men of lower rank were wounded there.
