Luitenant de Jong was a Dutch lieutenant of the garrison of the concentrated line at Atjeh in 1885 — not to be confused with korporaal De Jong of ten years earlier. In majoor Perelaer’s list he appears on 17 August 1885, when a patrol 30 men strong was surprised by Atjehnese who had lain in ambush behind the tramway in the eastern sector: six men were wounded, among them luitenant de Jong (see Guerilla raids inside the concentration line (1885)).
