Lieutenant P. ten Bosch commanded the marine landing division aboard the Dutch screw‑steamships Vice‑Admiral Koopman and Amstell during the 1868‑1870 African expeditions, but his name also appears in the Aceh campaign records as the senior marine officer of the landing division that participated in the assault on Bandjar on 24 October 1868.

Role in Aceh

Ten Bosch coordinated the landing of marine troops, the placement of artillery (including two 12 cm howitzers), and the organization of the assault on fortified Acehnese villages. His leadership contributed to the capture of the kraton and the surrender of local resistance.

Significance

His involvement demonstrates the integration of naval command structures with marine infantry operations in Aceh.
