Triebel was a Dutch captain (kapitein) of the Indies army who, in the night of 26–27 July 1892, led the second Dutch attack upon the fortified Atjehnese kampong Kaloet in the XXV Moekims of Groot-Atjeh and suffered échec, five days after kapitein Jhr. Graafland had failed before the same kampong on 21 July 1892. Coblijn, recording the succession in Hoe Atjeh te onderwerpen, noted that for the third attempt, in October following — the battle of Kaloet — again only a single company was used at first, so that reinforcements had to be sent piecemeal; he asked why it was again with merely one company, and placed the three fruitless attacks in his indictment of the conduct of the Atjeh-oorlog.
