Ka b. Zuhair was an early Arabic poet whose kasida Bānat Sudād (also referred to as al‑burda) is listed among the Arabic manuscripts held in Jakarta (formerly Batavia). The poem appears in Van Ronkel’s supplementary catalogue (no 851).

Literary Significance

Ka b. Zuhair’s Bānat Sudād exemplifies the early Arabic poetic forms that were later translated into Malay and incorporated into Acehnese devotional literature.
