J.F.D. Bruinsma was a Major in the Dutch Infantry and the author of the detailed historical account concerning the battles for Atjeh’s Groote Missigit.
Authorship
Bruinsma published his account, De verovering van Atjeh’s groote Missigit, to memorialize the extraordinary courage, sacrifices, and military tactics of the Dutch soldiers during the conflicts of 1873 and 1874. The proceeds from his publication were donated to the children of Fuselier Overmeiren, a brave soldier who fought in the campaigns.
