Account from Jongejans

Pursued Panglima Polém. First commander of the military post at Tapatoean (with rank of captain). Drew up a plan for bestuursregeling (administrative arrangement) of various regions (including Laut Tawar) after the Gajo-tocht. As civiel-gezaghebber at Lho’ Seumawé, received Panglima Polém’s surrender on 6 September 1903. Panglima Polém later recalls him with affection. Author of the book’s foreword (Dr. H. Colijn).

Significance

H. Colijn (Dr. H. Colijn) appears in Jongejan’s account as one of the figures shaping the history of Aceh during the period covered by the book.
