Greeve was a Dutch controleur (district officer) stationed at Bireuën in the Gouvernement Atjeh en Onderhoorigheden in the years of the definitive peace. In November 1913, during Moens’ journey through Atjeh, the traveller W. Moens recorded that de controleur Greeve te Bireun supplied him, there as elsewhere in the most obliging manner, with all the information he desired. Moens met him at the time of his visit to Bireuën, the starting-point of the Gajoe-weg, where the extensive new buildings and the busy market showed the rapid growth of the place and where the grave and projected monument of the murdered road-builder Heinzenknecht stood by the beginning of his great work.
The controleur Greeve of Bireuën is not to be confused with the mining engineer De Greve who served at the government coal-mine of Sabang.
