G. M. Verspick was a Dutch writer on the Atjeh War who published the pamphlet Generaal van Swieten en de waarheid (General van Swieten and the truth) as a contribution to the public controversy in the Netherlands over the conduct and early course of the war. He is not to be confused with General Verspijck (also spelled Verspyck), who served as second-in-command during the second Aceh expedition.

Place in the Controversy over Van Swieten

Verspick’s pamphlet belonged to the body of polemical literature provoked by the early campaigns and by the policy of conciliation associated with General van Swieten. Brooshooft listed it among the pamphlet sources for his Brooshooft (1886), alongside van Swieten’s own De waarheid over onze vestiging in Atjeh and Versteege’s Een beroep op het Nederlandsche volk in zake het Atjeh-vraagstuk.
