Colonel Egter van Wissekerke was the chief of staff (chef van den staf) of the first Aceh expedition under General Köhler in 1873. After Köhler was mortally wounded at the Missigit on 14 April 1873, Egter van Wissekerke took provisional command in the Missigit until Colonel Van Daalen arrived from the beach camp that afternoon to assume the supreme command.
