C. Noordewier was a 1st Class Medical Officer (Medical Officer) attached to the Marine-landingsdivisie during the First Aceh Expedition.
Service and Death
During the brutal combat of the First Conquest of the Great Missigit on 10 April 1873, Noordewier heroically attempted to revive a mortally wounded fellow naval officer, Lieutenant Engelvaart, under heavy fire but was unable to save him. Noordewier’s medical service highlighted the severe casualties suffered by the Dutch forces.
