A. G. N. van Sluys was a First civilian Governor of Aceh (1918) mentioned in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu in connection with Aceh. After Swart’s appointment to the Raad van Indië (2 September 1918), the government appointed a civilian Governor.

After Swart’s appointment to the Raad van Indië (2 September 1918), the government appointed a civilian Governor. The separation of civil and military authority was thus accomplished. Direct interference of military authorities ceased; civil government had daily leadership, supported by military force.

A. G. N. van Sluys appears in Jongejan’s account as one of the figures shaping the history of Aceh during the period covered by the book.
