September 1873 Atjeh Expedition was the follow‑up Dutch marine operation to the earlier April 1873 landing, intended to reinforce Dutch authority in Atjeh and to press the remaining rebel forces into submission.
The expedition departed from the Dutch colonial port of Batavia in September 1873 and landed near the same coastal sector as the April force. It brought additional artillery and engineering units, enabling the construction of a more permanent garrison at Kuta.
Outcome
Although the September force secured a larger area than its predecessor, resistance persisted, leading to a prolonged campaign that lasted into the mid‑1870s.
