Nisero shipwreck (night of 8-9 November 1883) was an event in the history of Aceh recorded by Jongejan in Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu. In the night of 8-9 November 1883, the ship ‘Nisero’ stranded at Koeala Panga, 20 km south of Tjalang on the Westkust.

Account
In the night of 8-9 November 1883, the ship ‘Nisero’ stranded at Koeala Panga, 20 km south of Tjalang on the Westkust. The shipwrecked crew were taken to boven-Teunom (upper Teunom) in the interior. 7 of them died there and were originally buried there. Later, when the graves were threatened by the river changing direction, the bones were transferred to Tjalang and re-buried there at the English navy cemetery.

The event is recorded by Jongejan as part of the broader historical narrative of Aceh and the Atjeh conflict period. It illustrates the complex interplay of local Atjehers politics, Dutch colonial administration, and the religious and military leadership that shaped the region’s history.
