Sultan Eseukanda Muda’s most celebrated military campaign, an enormous naval expedition launched in 1628 in an attempt to drive the Portuguese from Malacca, following his earlier conquests of Johor (1613) and Pahang (1618). The expedition is the historical kernel behind the legendary Hikayat Malem Dagang.
