Kapitein Heinzenknecht, ‘the gemütliche Beier’ (good-natured Bavarian), one of the capable workers on the great Gajoweg construction, was murdered by coolies. His loyal friends erected a bust by Toon Dupuis at Bireuën at the start of the Gajoweg, his face turned toward the road.
