Wasiët (Arabic waṣiyya) was the testament or testamentary disposition in Atjeh. Its uncertainty in the circumstances of the pilgrimage was, according to D. W. N. de Boer, one of the reasons for the frequency of division of estates during the lifetime of the testator.
Context
A man about to depart for Mekka preferred to settle his affairs beforehand in boeloeng, since he feared that through sudden death or other circumstances he might not have the opportunity to draw up a proper wasiët, and did not wish to run the risk that a disposition made on the journey or in the Holy Land would fail to be transmitted, or would not be carried out according to his wish.
