For both sexes in Aceh (women after marriage, youths after tooth replacement at age 12-15). In Aceh usually only upper teeth filed halfway. Gajo: upper teeth sawn with grass-knife-made saw, then ground flat — for girls sometimes to the gum. Alas: both upper and lower teeth filed.
Significance
The term tandvijling is recorded by Jongejan as part of the cultural, administrative, or institutional vocabulary of Aceh.
