Description
Floating sugar cane press seen on river trips to Singkel: a firmly anchored raft with attached waterwheel (scheprad) powering a simple mangel (roller press). Water turns the wheel which turns counter-rotating rollers. Petrol cans catch the sap; pulp comes out the other side. Often operated by children. Used on all pasars in Atjeh.
