St. 1909 No. 488 — the Staatsblad (State Gazette) of the Netherlands-Indies for the year 1909, number 488 — was the colonial government’s panglongreglement (panglong-regulation), by which the Chinese panglong labour-form of the wood-cutting industry of the eastern coast of Sumatra was regulated. The regulation was given for panglongs on Bengkalis and the other islands near Siak, also in Siak itself, but on the islands, in the forests, supervision was difficult. The labour-form at Bajan has traits of the panglong-enterprise but is, under direct European supervision, a modified form.
