Description
Aromatic plant exclusively of Westkust afdeeling; leaves yield a heavy-sweet essential oil used in perfumery. Grown on hill slopes (rooftbouw system); affected by ‘lepra-ziekte’ (knob formation on leaves). 1937 export: 1,120 ton nilam-blad + 22,000 KG oil.
