Moenkar en Nakir (English: “Munkar and Nakir, angels of the grave”) is a term or concept described in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu in relation to Aceh. Two fearsome angels who visit the dead in the grave immediately after burial to interrogate them on the true faith; they pre-torment those who cannot answer.
