Keumeukoh was the Atjehnese term for the rice harvest, and one of the two fixed points of the agricultural year between which alone a pledge of land could be redeemed.
Legal significance
D. W. N. de Boer recorded that for the redemption (teuboih) of a gala there existed opportunity only once a year, namely between the harvest — keumeukoh — and the first working of the ground, meu’oeë, of the following season. The agricultural calendar thus set the boundaries of a legal right.
The harvest was also the moment at which the mawaih-giver, having concerned himself no further with the course of affairs, attended in person or by his authorised representative the measuring of the crop, in order to withhold the portion due to him; and the moment at which the haq radja taléë was normally collected from a new clearer.
