Indahan arian was the Toba-Batak institution which D. W. N. de Boer equated with the Atjehnese atra peunoelang — the property made over by a father or other guardian to his married daughter on the occasion of the birth of her first child, when the couple set up an independent household.
Comparative use
The equation belongs to the systematic comparison between Atjeh and the Toba-Batak lands running through De Boer’s study, which also matched the Atjehnese peungkleh with the Batak mandjaë and the Atjehnese djinaméë with the Batak sinamot.
