Ghaib is the Acehnese term for “the unseen” or “hidden realities”, derived from the Arabic ghāʾib. It appears on 82 with the gloss “kerdja‑, verborgenheden”. In the Burda of al‑Bu‑s‑iri, ghaib is discussed alongside djinn and hakikat to denote aspects of reality beyond human perception.
Theological context
In Acehnese Islamic belief, ghaib encompasses angels, jinn, and divine decree, all of which are acknowledged in the Qur’an and Hadith.
