bruidsschat (state-level) (English: “bride wealth (state-level)”) is a term or concept described in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu in relation to Aceh. Conceptual bride wealth paid by a new Sultan as ‘bridegroom’ to ‘marry’ the realm/nation (conceived as the ‘bride’).
