A. tadjim was an Acehnese‑Malay term recorded on page 92 of the Malay translation of the Burda, glossed as “tiada akan ber‑ , zal geen geluid geven” (to be silent, to give no sound). The word derives from the Arabic tadjīm (تَدْجِيم) meaning “silencing”. In Acehnese devotional contexts it signified the virtue of humility and restraint.
Usage
The term appears in admonitory verses urging believers to refrain from idle talk.
