A. al-siddte was an Acehnese‑Malay rendering of the Arabic al‑ṣiddiq (الصِّدّق) meaning “the sincere”, glossed on page 93 of the Malay translation of the Burda as “de oprechte; bijnaam van Abu Baker”. The term was used to denote the quality of sincere devotion, especially in reference to the first Caliph Abu Bakr.
Contextual Note
The entry reflects the high esteem accorded to Abu Bakr in Acehnese Sufi tradition.
